Dear colleagues, 

 

Tobias (DAV) and I (CAA) presented our project “AVadapt” to you at our last meeting in Kufstein and I want to give you a short update on the project and as indicated in Kufstein we would like to present our results so far and discuss them with you to validate them on an international level:

 

Club Arc Alpin and the German Alpine Club are finalizing the project “AVadapt - Abschätzung der Klimawandelfolgen für alpine Infrastruktur und Bergsport und Erarbeitung von Anpassungsmaßnahmen unter Berücksichtigung der Potentiale naturbasierter Lösungen“ (funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection Regions and Water Management (BMLUK) .

 

The following principal results were achieved in the project phase 2024 – 2025: 

1.	Systematic and interdisciplinary assessment of impacts, challenges and adaptation concerning climate change within the fields of the alpine clubs
2.	General and transboundary Outreach & Communication: A  <https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLthDTDpn-0lA8thHW2nJzmHDqsrufTcu8&si=9Xfm0c-bnsIE2JSQ> video series was produced by the DAV to educate and sensitize the general public about ongoing changes and adaptation needs due to climate change in the Alps.
  

In order to finalize the project by March 2026, we need your strong expertise to validate and complement the results. We therefore invite you to participate in our international webinar:

Thursday, 22nd January 2026, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

 

Agenda: 

*	General project presentation
*	Presentation of Draft Assessment Report “Climate change impacts & needs for adaptation” 
*	Review, Validation and Finalization of Results
*	Discussion of potential follow-up projects & Outlook

 

We would like to present to you the preliminary results of AVadapt in the form of the assessment report summarizing impacts, challenges and needs in the fields of hut and trail management and mountain sports.  

We kindly invite representatives from the Alpine Clubs from various fields affected by climate change (hut management, trail management, mountain sports) to 

a.	Validate these preliminary results, and
b.	Add additional information, and
c.	Discuss potential use and follow-up projects with us.
